Sharing Google Docs and Folders Via the Weblink

Sometimes its easier to share files from Google via a web link instead of connected from your grade book or you want the option to only share to other Pinkerton staff and students. Here is how to do that.

How to Share Access with Others Via Weblink

You can share out access to a Google file or folder either with a web link or by using the Gmail/Google Docs email address of the person you wish to share access with.
When you upload a Word Doc, PowerPoint or Excel file to your Drive, they may stay in their Format unless you convert them.

1. To Share via Weblink: Now that its in Google Format, right click on the Google version of your file, click the Share icon that looks like a person with a + next to it.
2. In the window that appears find the link that says “Private, only you can access” and click the “Change” link at the far right.
3. Choose “Anyone with the link” and “can view” and then Save. Or to only save with school staff and students, choose Only at “Pinkerton Academy” (or anyone at Pinkerton Academy can view with the link.)

4. on the next screen COPY the link at the top that says “Link to share”. This is what you give to others or link in your gradebook or websites.
